Resale profit calculator

Enter your per-unit costs to estimate contribution, break-even and a target-margin sale price. Include shipping and a returns allowance so a low purchase price does not hide an expensive order. This free tool runs in your browser; your calculator inputs are not sent to our server.
All amounts must use one currency. Example values below are hypothetical, not a quote or a marketplace fee schedule. Percentage fees apply to the sale-price field in this model. If your fees use a different base, calculate them separately and avoid double-counting.
How the calculation works
Fixed per-unit costs C are item + inbound shipping + import charges + packaging + outbound delivery + fixed fee + returns allowance. With sale price P and percentage fee f as a decimal, contribution = P × (1 − f) − C. Margin = contribution ÷ P when P is greater than zero.
Break-even = C ÷ (1 − f). Required price for target margin m = C ÷ (1 − f − m). Required prices are rounded upward to a cent. When fee plus target margin reaches 100%, no positive sale price can achieve that margin with positive fixed costs. With zero costs, the maximum margin at a positive price is 1 − f.
Worked example
The default inputs total USD 39.30 in fixed costs. At a USD 50 sale price and 13% fee, contribution is USD 4.20 and margin is 8.4%. Break-even rounds upward to USD 45.18; a 20% target requires USD 58.66. Raising inbound shipping by 20% leaves USD 2.60 contribution. Reducing sale price by 10% gives a USD 0.15 loss. These stress tests are separate scenarios.
What this tool does not establish
This is a contribution model, not net income or a profit forecast. It excludes costs you have not entered, including overheads, advertising, income taxes and your time. It does not calculate current import rates, exchange rates or marketplace fee schedules. Use current records for your destination, product and selling account.
A positive result does not establish product authenticity, safety, compliance or demand. Read the DHgate reselling guide and sample-order checklist before sourcing. For the full arithmetic, see resale profit and break-even.
